10 Days Until Christmas
-Alvo News-
Village Board meetings can run unnecessarily long and with the cold winter months upon us, it's understandable to not want to attend. Now you can "attend" the meeting from the warmth of your home and watch when YOU have the time. Village Board meeting recordings have now been added to the site, they can be accessed through the Board Meetings Video tab located under Local Government.
I was recently sent a list of questions from Leslie Krings, a resident in a nearby community with ties to Alvo. Some of you may remember Leslie as in the past she served the Village of Alvo as the Relief Post Office Employee. Many of the questions she brought up are questions I think others in the community of Alvo share the same concern with, so I’d like to share my summary of them with you all.
1. The Board of Trustees is elected by the people of Alvo to represent the Village and its best interests. Why is it that when questions are asked by those citizens who elected them there is no transparency or true answer ever given?
2. The Village of Alvo's identity currently is not a good one, what or who has caused this?
3. Two discussions are being had regarding the Village of Alvo, one becoming "annexed" into Eagle and the second, becoming unincorporated. Shouldn't the residents of Alvo make these decisions, not the Board of Trustees? Why does the Chairperson keep threatening unincorporated the Village of Alvo?
4. The power over common sense has caused a lot of Alvo's problems, what is the community doing to get an explanation as to why the village is failing?
5. Thankfully Alvo can now be utilized as a substation but what or who was the true cause for the Alvo Fire and Rescue not being in service in the first place? The Alvo Fire and Rescue won their lawsuits against the Village indicating wrongdoing on the Board of Trustees' part and still, some of the current Board of Trustees are being withheld court orders.
