Neal has transitioned to outpatient status!!
Update from Neal and Jennifer - July 1st
Neal was caught in a propane explosion underneath his house on May 11th. Propane flame temperature is over 4000 degrees Fahrenheit, which caused 2nd and 3rd degree burns to his face, scalp, ears, hands, forearms and lower legs. He was transported to St. Elizabeth Burn Center by Alvo Rescue where he was treated with pig skin and skin grafts, antibiotics and wound care until June 6th. He was discharged to Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital for physical therapy until June 20th. Tabitha Home Care taught Jennifer to treat and bandage his burns from June 21st to 25th. While at Madonna and Tabitha he still was treated at the Burn Center as an outpatient. He still is driven to the Burn Center three to five times a week for continuing outpatient therapy for his hands. Skin from his back was grafted to his legs, but the first grafts became infected and required him to stay flat on his back for a week. The second grafts are healing well. He must wear a hat and sun screen and stay out of the sun as much as possible. Neal hopes to be able to drive by mid-August. Going back to work is still many months down the road. Neal and Jennifer have shared pictures taken at the Burn Center and Madonna. You might want to keep the kids from seeing these.
