Editor's Take XIX

Now I'm really starting to wonder about most of the candidates for state and federal offices in Nebraska. None of the gubenotorial candidates on the Republican side are doing anything but attacking the President and each other. For example, when I was doing research on the historical events, I would find on pages that had information I was after attack ads against various Nebraska candidates. Advertising on line takes some serious dollars as far as I know. Only a few candidates actually have positive proposals to help the people of this state. The 2014 campaign is all about ideology rather than specifics on improving life in Nebraska. Government is NOT a business - if streets and highways were left up to private enterprise, you would pay a fee every time you drove to town. We want to be free of government interference with our lives, but we want clean water, protection from crime, fire departments, emergency medical services, help after disasters - the list is a lot longer.

We have many politicians who do not respect our president, secretary of state, attorney general, et cetera - could it be that they're either female or black?

What is really funny is that politicians of the same political party are attacking each other - if they can't respect their own party members, how can we expect them to find solutions to issues when they have to work with members of other parties?
