Halloween - Thursday, October 31st - All Saints Day - Friday,  November 1st - talk about a juxtaposition (Thanks Trish for correcting my error)

National Pizza month - all month long - scarf the pizza!

Polish American month - tell all your Polish friends and relatives

National Dessert Month - my favorite month of the year!

Country music month - bet 96KX and Froggy 98 and the Wolf did not know that.

National Book Fair month - take your eyes off your iPad, Nook or Kindle and buy AND read a REAL book

1987 - In Japan, NEC releases the first 16-bit home entertainment system, the TurboGrafx-16, known as PC Engine

1994 - Thomas Nicely reports bug in Intel's Pentium-processor on Internet

2001 - Alvo Fire Department holds its first ever Car Show

2012 - Walt Disney purchases Lucasfilm Ltd and its rights for Star Wars and Indiana Jones for $4.05 billion

1973   A U.N. sanctioned cease-fire officially ends the Yom Kippur War between Israel and Syria [we were at Defcon 2 - ready to go to war during that interesting time - for us it meant all the interceptors were fully armed and ready to defend the Pacific Northwest]

2001   Apple releases the iPod [I don't have one]

1869   John Heisman born (Football coach Heisman Trophy) - [I don't have one of these, either]

1940   Pele born (Soccer Player) [I played soccer in the Air Force - not very good at it]

1959   Weird Al Yancovic born (Comedian) [I can understand most of his jokes - does that make me weird, too?]
