What are they Thinking?
I write these on Tuesdays, they are published on Wednesday - so I don't really know if any shred of sanity has returned to Washington DC. Albert Einstein, who most people will agree is smarter than the average US Senator or Representative, left us this definition. Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Hello, Congressmen and Women - the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare to people who have problems with reality) has nothing to do with national defense, delivering the mail, building and repairing roads, aiding people flooded out in Colorado, investigating criminal and terrorist activities, inspecting food - I could go on and on.
There is at least one family in Alvo who is directly affected by the shutdown that I personally know. I am pretty sure the bank will want the mortgage and credit cards to be paid. To me, inaction causing average people to suffer is criminal and should be dealt with in a punitive way. Unfortunately, our representatives are immune from prosecution for their actions WHILE THEY ARE IN OFFICE. The only way they can be punished is to vote for someone else at election time.
Here's another chance for you to let our Nebraska Congressional delegation know what you think of them:
And let's not forget our own State Legislature
I will close with another of Albert's quotes: "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds."
Let's truly hope next week is better.
