I don't understand our so-called representatives in the House and Senate - from Nebraska or any other state. They all claim they represent their constituents - that's us - but it seems to me they represent who gave them the most money to get elected - and most of them get most of that campaign money from big corporations or very, very rich individuals. Now they are going to shut down the US government by not authorizing raising the US debt ceiling. However, their salaries will continue and they will still get their taxpayer funded health care.

Take a look at Alvo's expenses for the month of August (I know it says September on the link, but that's because the board approves those bills at the September meeting). We average right around $4000 - $5000 per month of your money, if you pay your taxes, to pay the people who operate the water and sewer systems, businesses who provide fuel and supplies,  insurance coverage for vehicles and village property, repair water and sewer systems, allow our street lights to be on at night, move the snow off the streets, and provide engineering services for infrastructure improvement. State agencies are paid to test our drinking water, inspect our sewage lagoon and receive state sales tax.

Annually for the 142 people (at the last count) that works out over a year to just over $300 per person to keep your community functioning.

Guess what - your board members have not ever considered not paying the bills or deciding to shut village government down because they (we) can't agree.

Here are links to your (our) US Senators and Representatives - let them know they look really childish in not compromising to keep the country operating.

Whatever you think, you should let your representatives know how you feel.

That's it for this week - be safe
