KCCB Offers Free Green Business Program

Keep Cass County Beautiful (KCCB) is now recruiting Cass County businesses who would like to participate in the Cass County Green Business Program. The program will help Cass County businesses learn ways to save energy, manage solid waste, and learn about other “green” practices that may potentially help a business save money.

The project is funded in part by a USDA Rural Business Development Grant awarded to KCCB in late 2016. KCCB seeks to enhance the quality of life in Cass County by conserving county natural resources and increasing pro-environmental behaviors among county residents. KCCB’s partners are UNO’s Nebraska Business Development Center (NBDC), the Plattsmouth Main Street Association, and the Cass County Nebraska Economic Development Council (CCNEDC).

All businesses in Cass County qualify for this FREE program. Participants will 1) attend three workshop training sessions led by business sustainability consultants, 2) develop a unique action plan for business improvement and 3) evaluate outcomes with an on-site consultation.

Workshops will be held on March 13, March 20, and March 27 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in Plattsmouth at the VFW and 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Elmwood-Murdock Elementary School in Elmwood. Businesses may choose either location, but it’s important to attend all three workshops. The direct benefit to the business will be specific training that will reduce operational costs, improve employee skills, plus capitalize on the competitive advantage of green branding.
