No abnormally dry areas, especially after the heavy rains in the southeast. In fact, local farmers are very concerned about being able to plant. May 18th, 1980 - Mt. Saint Helens erupted in Washington state. 57 people were killed and 3 billion in damage was done.

May 19th, 1928 - The first frog-jumping jubilee held in Calaveras County, CA.

May 20th, 1899 - Jacob German of New York City became the first driver to be arrested for speeding. The posted speed limit was 8 miles per hour, according to this BLOG. He was driving an electric taxi.

May 21st, 1998 - An expelled student, Kipland Kinkel, in Springfield, OR, killed 2 people and wounded 25 others with a semi-automatic rifle. Police also discovered that the boy had killed his parents before the rampage.
