When will Spring finally arrive?
3 inches of snow on the pickup after 1 1/2 inches of rain.....the good part is most of it stayed in the soil.
We won't open until the sun shines.
I told you not to bloom this soon!
I think this is why we are called winter onions.
Graduation time for some of our young men and women. We should appreciate their hard work and your editor would like to recognize their attaining this important goal. Email me at
The only graduate I know of is Dana Dougherty, who earned her bachelor's degree from the UNL College of Arts & Sciences, majoring in German and Sociology with a minor in Business. Dana is Mark and Annette Dougherty's daughter and is the last one preparing to leave the nest. Congratulations, Dana.
At the bottom of the page are some announcements for upcoming events in other parts of the county. If you are having a yard or garage sale, auction, birthday, wedding, anniversary or other event LET ME KNOW. The publishing rate is pretty reasonable - how about FREE? Of course, we wouldn't turn down cash, especially if it is in small bills with non-consecutive serial numbers. Email me at
Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.
Quick Note from the Village Board Meeting - Bobby Hanes was approved as a Planning Commission member. Thank you, Bobby for stepping up.
The 13th annual Murray-Beaver Lake Lions Club Golf Fundraiser tournament will be held Saturday, June 15th, 2013. This fundraiser helps the Lions Club provide services to the Murray-Beaver Lake community in many ways. The Lions provide support for those needing help with purchasing eyeglasses,
hearing aids, and other things essential for a good life. The Lions also provide help to Conestoga students for school activities and pursuit of excellence. This year we provided two scholarships to graduating Conestoga seniors.
Last year’s golf tournament allowed us to contribute to the development of the Cougar Hollow at the elementary school. Below is information for the tournament and a copy of the raffle ticket for seats to the Nebraska and Illinois football game. Please try to get a team together for the tournament and purchase some raffle tickets. (They'd make a great Father's Day gift!)
And, remember that the Lions are always looking for new members who would like to support their community. We are a service organization.
Thanks for your support!
