 August 27th, 1921 - The owner of Acme Packing Company bought a pro football team for Green Bay, WI. J.E. Clair paid tribute to those who worked in his plant by naming the team the Green Bay Packers.

August 28th, 1907 - "American Messenger Company" was started by two teenagers, Jim Casey and Claude Ryan. The company's name was later changed to "United Parcel Service."

August 30th, 1965 - Thurgood Marshall was confirmed by the Senate as a Supreme Court justice. Marshall was the first black justice to sit on the Supreme Court.

August 31st, 1920 - John Lloyd Wright was issued a patent for "Toy-Cabin Construction," known today as Lincoln Logs. (U.S. patent 1,351,086).
