Shall we give this a try? LFL02 Photo by JENNA VONHOFE/Lincoln Journal Star

Little Free Library Link

It was suggested several months ago to start a Little Free Library in Alvo. Little Free Libraries are small structures stocked with books and the principle of operation is "Bring a book, take a book". While several citizens are ready to donate books, there were concerns about theft, vandalizm and locating and building or buying a weather resistant enclosure. According to the article below, theft is a recent problem at several locations in Lincoln. I think most people in our community are good people, not all, but most. We are looking for a talented carpenter (hint, hint) to build on of these. I think the Village Board would approve locating it on village property. If you have something to contribute let me know by scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking on the village of Alvo email link. Thanks in advance.

Nebraska 63 construction from Alvo south to US 34 is continuing - watch for construction people and equipment. Plan on delays due to single lane traffic with a pilot car. Also, traffic on 1st, Main and 2nd will increase due to contractors loading their water supply trucks at the 2nd and Main hydrant. Keep your eyes off the smartphone and on the road, please

dry01

Not so good news - 2.2 % of Nebraska was abnormally dry last week. This week it almost doubled to jsut under 4.4 % with drying in the south central section of the state. We  need to conserve our water as we move into the hotter, drier months.
