Here are some quotes appropriate for the 15th of April...
"We don't seem to be able to check crime, so why not legalize it and tax it out of business." - Will Rogers - That would really work with drugs.
"Why is it that if you take advantage of a corporate tax break, you're a smart businessman, but if you take advantage of something so you don't go hungry, you'rs a moocher?" - Jon Stewart

Another long-time Alvo resident is gone....
Alice Elliot, who died on April 12th in Lincoln, was an active Alvo citizen for 20 years. She was still a member of the Alvo United Methodist Church, Elmwood Senior Citizen Group and Elmwood Young at Heart. She was past president of the Alvo Garden Club and the Alvo Reading Club. A lifelong wife to her husband, Lee, she loved babies and took care of her neighbors' and relatives' children for many years while also being a fastidious housekeeper. She was a farm kid, living on farms near Johnson, Greenwood, Eagle and Alvo in Nebraska and Smith Center in Kansas. Click HERE for her Lincoln Journal Star obituary. Her funeral will be Thursday, April 16th at 2:00 PM at Roper & Sons Chaperl 4300 O Street in Lincoln. Memorials to Elmwood Rescue Squad.
On a happier note, this Saturday is the first event of the Alvo 125th celebration - the Methodist Church's Annual Country Music Show kicks off our celebration from 10 AM to 4 PM at the Fire & Rescue Station. Here is their artist lineup (of course these folks are very laid back, so times may change). My advice - spend the whole day and listen to everyone.

11:15 Fine Wine 12:00 - Don & Tonya Pischna
12:30 - Aleatha McKay 1:00 - Stove Creek
