Spring is finally here - on the 20th
Maybe winter is almost over, but that means we are entering the severe weather season. So here are some reminders. The warning siren is only activated for warnings and tests. The test is scheduled the first Saturday of every month by the Cass County Sheriff's Dispatch Center. For warnings, the Cass County Emergency Management Office and the officers of Alvo Fire Department and the Alvo Rescue Squad can also activate the siren. Repeating, the siren will sound for WARNINGS and routine tests and there is NO all clear signal. Also, sirens are designed as OUTDOOR warning devices. Listening to the Greatful Dead indoors at maximum volume or on headphones or earbuds may cause you to miss the warning. The siren has a battery backup system and the Fire and Rescue Station has a backup generator.
