alvo newsletter, november 5th, 2014

Elections are over - now maybe there will be a dropoff in robo-calls, online and telephone surveys and best of all - no more pleas for money so that those "others" won't get elected. Now we know who will be screwing up the towns, counties, states and the nation for the next two or four or six years.

DST end 2 No - it's about money!

Did you all remember to set your clocks back Saturday night? And how about your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms? It's not too late - you don't have to wait til next October to replace the batteries and test their operation. Leaves are bailing on the trees and the below thirty degree nights took care of our tomatoes, squash and cucumbers - however, the onions don't care about frost.

The great news - we have a new grandnephew, Jack Alexander, born October 28th, 8 pounds, 13 ounces, 21.5 inches long (future exceptional man). Sleeps mostly in the daytime - I want his job.

I got a phone call from the head of the county web site operation (my boss) telling me that this little newsletter has the second highest readership in Cass County. So mahalo nui loa, muchas gracias, ihe edn, merci beaucoup, domo arigato, kamshamnida, nia:wen, obrigado, spasibo!, salamot po, kap kun maak, cam on ong to all of you who read my ramblings. Once again, please let me know about milestones, happy (and not so happy) events, birthdays, kids, grandkids, spouses that you want to brag about, etc.

Remember Spider Robinson's quote - "Shared pain is eased, shared joy is increased." -  from "Callahan's Crosstime Saloon".

Did you notice that going off daylight savings time made the days shorter?
