Heat and Rain Makes the Corn Grow!

However, an inch or two of rain every few days doesn't relieve the drought conditions. Click on the link below to look at the most recent US Drought Monitor page for Nebraska. We did get an unofficial 2.3 inches last night and dodged most of the really severe weather.

Nebraska Drought Conditions as of May 27th

Conditions should improve slightly next week, if we continue to have above average rain.

"Seems you can't outsmart Mother Nature." - Mark Hyman

"Surely if Mother Nature had been consulted, she never would have consented to building a city in New Orleans." - Mortimer Zuckerman

A recent article in the Lincoln Journal indicates that Lincoln will need to get water from the Mssouri River to keep up with the increased population. Just a history note, Ashland was considered for the state capital, even though Lancaster had only brackish and salty water - today, Lincoln gets most of it's water from the Ashland well field. Mother Nature would have probably recommended that building a large city without a close, reliable water supply wasn't a good idea.
