Tax day is over when you read this - but thought you might like some of the art work that's out there.
Talk about being caught between a rock and a hard place - this year, we'll get some back from the US government, but Nebraska takes it all away and then some. Our goal is to not loan either state or federal government money interest free. When you brag about how big your refund is - figure out how much interest the governments saved over borrowing the same amount. If you get $1000 back and the state or federal government had to pay the maximum personal load interest rate (16% in Nebraska), one year of using YOUR money would cost $160. But the US government doesn't pay the same interest rate you do. EE bonds issued by the US Treasury earn 0.10 % annual percentage rate which means if you paid $1000 for a 30 year EE Bond you would earn $ 30 over 30 years.
"If anything, taxes for the lower and middle class and maybe even the upper middle class should even be probably cut further. But I think that people at the high end - people like myself - should be paying a lot more in taxes. We have it better than we've ever had it." - Warren Buffet
"We don't pay taxes. Only the little people pay taxes." - Leona Helmsley
