Hope you enjoyed the two days of spring - like weather but don't put away your coats, hats, gloves and boots. Tuesday and Wednesday are back to normal with maybe some rain or snow. Wrong again - Wednesday was breezy and mild - thank you, Mother Nature.
Monday a couple of tougher robins scoped out Alvo - by Wednesday, the rest of the family showed up. Maybe we'll have Spring someday.
Hey folks, it's still very, very dry - put your butts out inside the car, not out the window. If you start a fire and it gets away, you are liable for any damage it causes to others and you may be billed for suppression costs.

This is why no burn permits will be issued by Chief Koutecky until there is at least an inch of rain in the area. If you absolutely have to burn, contact Chief Koutecky for a crew and tanker to stand by during the burn - Alvo's grass truck is in the shop, waiting for authorization from the Eagle - Alvo Fire Board to start repairs.
Eagle Fire Department responded to the Palmyra fires (yes there were two - one after the other). It took 19 departments to control the Branched Oak fire. One firefighter was transported for smoke inhalation injury. At least two trucks suffered mechanical failure.
Alvo Fire Department responded to the Ashland fire. Now what that meant was that had there been a fire in the Eagle-Alvo area, response would have had to come from Weeping Water or Avoca as Greenwood, Murdock, Elmwood and Southeast Rural were aiding Ashland along withYutan.
Some advantages of living in Alvo
Six of these attractions are less than an hour's drive from Alvo!
The Henry Doorly Zoo (#1), the College World Series (#2) and the Old Market (#3) are in Omaha. Memorial Stadium (#4) and the State Capitol (#9) are in Lincoln, and the closest is the Strategic Air and Space Museum (#7) is just off the 426 exit of I-80 next to Mahoney State Park, 13 miles away and and 16 minutes from 135 Main Street here in Alvo according to GoogleMaps.
The other four attractions are all courtesy of Mother Nature. The Sandhills (#5) start north and west of Grand Island

March 15th - the Ides of March
If you're a Roman Emperor named Julius, "Beware the ides of Morch!". Ides is the Roman word for fifteenth as in the 'fifteenth of March' - which unless your name was Julius or Jules as he was known on the street. For him it was a "Heads up dude, yon Cassius doth hast a lean and humgry look He gonna shank youse."
