It's officially winter now - the down sides are the temperature (COLD), the precipitation (SNOW and FREEZING RAIN), clouds, wind chill, icy streets and sidewalks. The up side is that the days are really (but slowly) getting longer.

Today sunrise is 07:48 AM and it doesn't set until 17:03 (05:03 PM), which gives a day with 9 hours and 15 minutes of sunshine. I have included the sunrise and sunset times for the rest of the week from the Naval Observatory data site. The interesting part is that the sun rises about 1 minute later every two or three days, but sunset is 1 minute later every 1 or 2 days.

The table shows that we start gaining a minute a day on the 30th - so hang in there, sun fans, sooner or later it will be warm again.
