Congress finally got their comedy act together and the federal government is dysfunctional again.



 Fire Department Cadet Program


Alvo area young people, do you want to learn about fire fighting? The Alvo Fire Department will start a Fire Cadet Program for males and females interested in the fire service, ages 11 to graduation from high school. Once your application is approved by your parents and the Village Board, you will be asked to join us one evening a month for introduction to the Alvo Fire Department. You will learn how to operate a fire extinguisher, test and change batteries on smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, the difference between a pumper, tender and grass rig and what firefighters do. EMS Cadet Program  


How would you like to understand what EMS means? Alvo Rescue Squad will start an EMS Cadet Program for younsters interested in prehospital emergency care ages 11 to high school graduates living in and around Alvo. Applications must be approved by your parents and the Alvo Village Board. Once approved, you will learn about ambulance operations, what happens when the squad is dispatched, how 911 works in and around Alvo. Benefits include free CPR and First Aid training, help with 4-H safety projects and the self-confidence of knowing what to do in an emergency. Contact Karen Morgan, RN, EMT, EMSI at 402-781-2710.

Remember the ratty old Fire Barn? The bees are relocated and the hole filled in.

The vacant house is gone along with the weeds and old trees.

No more weeds and the iris, peonies and lilies have been adopted.

Now this property is owned by people living in Alvo who hope to improve and develop their land.
