The Village Of Alvo has taken the following actions to return to compliance with the Nebraska Safe Drinking Water Act:

Additional Required Health Effects Language:

Coliforms are bacteria that are naturally present in the environment and are used as an indicator that other, potentially harmful, waterborne pathogens may be present or that a potential pathway exists through which contamination may enter the drinking water distribution system. We found coliforms indicating the need to look for potential problems in water treatment or distribution. When this occurs, we are required to conduct assessment(s) to identify problems and to correct any problems that were found during these assessments.

There are no additional required health effects violation notices.

During the past year we were required to conduct one Level 1 assessment(s). one Level 1 assessment(s) were completed. In addition, we were required to take one corrective actions and we completed zero of these actions.

Electronic Delivery Distribution Instructions

In order for Electronic Delivery to meet the "mail or otherwise directly deliver" distribution requirement for the CCR, the following must be followed:

  • Notification goes out to all bill paying customers that the CCR is ready to view on the Community/System's Website via a Direct URL. "Direct URL" means that the web address/link you provide must take the customer directly to the current year's CCR. The customer must not need to navigate their way through a webpage to find the current year's CCR.

*The Department and EPA strongly suggest that notification of Electronic Delivery goes out in at least 2 monthly mailings; for example, notification within the bi/ling statements whether mailed or e-mailed.

  1. Mailing a notification that includes a Direct URL to the CCR and explains the nature of the link.
  2. E-mailing a notification that includes a Direct URL to the CCR and explains the nature of the link.
  3. E-mailing the CCR as an attachment to an e-mail or an embedded document within an e-mail and a notice that explains the nature of the email or embedded document.
  4. Provide info on how a customer can obtain a paper copy of the CCR if utilizing ANY or ALL of the above Electronic Delivery methods.
  • "Good Faith" efforts must be used to reach non-bill paying consumers. These efforts include:
  1. Posting the CCR on a publicly accessible Internet site.
  2. Advertising the availability of the CCR in the news media (a notice similar to one you send out to your customers can be used for this).
  3. Publication ofthe CCR in a local newspaper.

d} Posting the CCR in public places, single billing addresses serving several people, community organizations.

  1. Electronic community/system newsletter.
  2. Electronic announcement of the CCR availability via Social Media Outlets.

If you have any questions about the Electronic Delivery Distribution option, please call or e-mail me, David Fox at 402-471-0785 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

To whom it may concern,

The Village of Alvo has made changes to make sure the Village stays within compliance for the Public Water System.

The biggest changes were to find and hire a qualified operator. After hiring we then had to orientate him to our system and being the task of correcting such violation.

The largest contributing factor to our violation was failure of routine monitoring and simply not addressing them.

We as a Village now have an operator that has done a great of making sure we stay in compliance with our routine testing and has address all other compliance.

BAD NEWS - Loose dogs attacked dogs who were on their owners' property and have been aggressive toward humans numerous times recently. Having your dog, licensed or unlicensed, unrestrained off your property is a violation of Village ordinance. These dogs may be impounded and if determined to be vicious, euthanized. For those who are concerned, help identify the loose animals be getting pictures with date and time. Even if you don't live in the village, when you bring your dog into town, you are subject to the same ordinance as residents. Dog licensing ordinance update will be discussed at the July board meeting.

The great news is 90 counties are at normal moisture level. Two are normal to abnormally dry to moderate drought and one is abnormally dry to moderate drought. Cass County has normal moisture level.

Nationally, only 11 states - Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia have normal moisture levels. Things are better in the Northeast and Midwest. Puerto Rico, Hawaii and Alaska are drying out.
