Alvo Newsletter, September 4th, 2013 Look Out for Big Yellow Ones with Young Ones Aboard!!! There was a close call Tuesday at 176th & Fletcher Road - car versus stopped school bus - only five of the 45 students aboard were taken to the hospital and the bus driver was not injured. The car driver was cited for following too closely and not wearing a seat belt. This means Stop! This could have been a lot worse. Half of the Alvo Fire Department and Alvo Rescue Squad do not have children, but half do. We do not want to take anyone's child to the hospital for mistakes on someone else's part. The drought makes all our county roads extremely dusty and the gravel or crushed rock is treacherous. You just can't drive at paved highway speeds on these roads and have control of your vehicle. If you are a person that doesn't put any wear on stop signs and talk, text or drink while you drive - you might meet us in unhappy circumstances. Village Board meeting - changed to Monday, September 9th, 7:30 PM, Alvo Village Office. Fire Department meeting - Wednesday, September 4th, 7:00 PM, Fire & Rescue meeting room. Rescue Squad meeting - Wednesday, September 11th, 7:00 PM, Fire & Rescue meeting room.
