Aren't you glad to live in a state that doesn't infringe on your rights to do dumb things?

N-63 Alvo North Open!

N-63 is open to through traffic. This completes Phase I of a 2 Phase project, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. The section of N-63 closed this year was approximately one-half mile south of I-80 and consisted of box culvert construction, re-alignment of the existing highway and erosion control items.  Minor work, like seeding and erosion control installation, may still be performed.

The second phase will begin in March 2018.  During this phase, N-63 will be closed to traffic from Reference Post 4+20 to Reference Post 9+68.  A detour will be marked for through traffic for this phase.

The project is anticipated to be completed by November 2018.

The Department’s project manager for this project is Jesse De Los Santos of Lincoln.  Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously through construction work zones.

This notice is directed toward those who flushed their shop towels, baby wipes and other non-degradable items down their toilets - the Village has to replace two pumps at the sewage lagoon to the tune of $10,000. That will cause delays in working on required improvements to the drinking water system. This will cost everyone in town when new sewer and water rates are set.

Thanks to Karen for the Nebraska State flag - it will fly until March 1st, 2018 to celebrate Nebraska 150.

Thanks for the snow, Mother Nature. Twemty-five counties in Nebraska have 100% normal moisture levels. Twenty-one are normal to abnormally dry, 39 are abnormally dry, 2 are normal to abnormally dry to moderate drought, 6 are abnormally dry to moderate drought and 1 is completely moderate drought.. We need more snow! There are no severe drought conditions anywhere in our state. However - the southwest panhandle is facing long term abnormally dry to moderate drought conditions, meaning the dry spell is lasting more than six months.

Nationally, only Michigan, Ohio, Rhode Island and Puerto Rico have normal moisture levels. This is NOT an improvement over last week.

Puerto Rico is gaining on power and drinkable water. Click on either image to see how Nebraska compares to other states.
