No severe drought areas in the state as of January 24th - this is good news, as long as the trend continues. The affected areas are still the northern and southern panhandle, the southwest and mid and south central Nebraska. From the table, a year ago, there were no low moisture areas in the state. But the reduced rain in July and August of 2016 started the dryness over the fall and winter. Click on the image for the rest of the U.S. Note that southern California is much better off moisture wise, except for the mudslides that came with the heavy rainfall.
